The Bible says, ‘the eye is the lamp of the body.’ When I first saw you Kortney your eyes were the thing that drew me to you. They drew me in and didn’t let go. They are the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. They shine the light of the most beautiful heart I have ever known. A heart that leads me to the Lord. A heart that uplifts and encourages. A heart that is selfless and caring. A heart that loves me in a way I never thought possible.
The Lord knew all the things I wanted and the things I needed and He gave me you. Your eyes have shined a light into my life that cannot be dimmed. You have given me a love that I didn’t think was possible and a love I thought I would never find. You talk about God’s faithfulness and now on this day it is more clear to me than ever before.
You are my first and only love. The only girl that will ever hear me say these words. I love you with all my heart. I pray I can always shine a light into your life and into our marriage. I pray I can always uplift you. I pray I can always be encouraging. I pray I can always put your needs above mine. I pray I can be the leader you deserve. I pray everything I do comes from a place of love. I pray I am always patient. I pray I don’t hold grudges. I pray I put my pride aside. I pray I can always show you the love and respect you show me. I’m so thankful God placed you in my life. I pray our lights shine brightest when we’re together. I pray we continue to make each other better and that I always lead you to the Lord. I am forever grateful for those beautiful eyes capturing mine. Even more grateful for the light that shines through them that captured my heart. I love you piecel puzz.”
I wanted to know if the number 16 had any significance in the Bible and here is what I found: the number sixteen is symbolic of love and loving. Christians are to become perfected in God’s love, not just by physically obeying the Commandments but also by following the full spiritual intent of our Creator’s laws and judgments. In the Old Testament, 16 of the various names and titles for God specially signify His constant, never-ending love for His children. So, on the day we become one together in Christ, is the day that is a testimony of God’s never ending love for us. Amazing!
Aron, I pray that I can be an example of Christ’s love to you. That how I love you, shows how I love Him and how I Him, portrays how I love you. When I honor Him, I honor you. When I honor you, I honor Him. My prayer is that I will become a wife that supports you. That encourages you and will never drag you down. Proverbs 31:11-12 says, ‘Her husband can trust her and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.’ My prayer is that I can be that, with help from our Lord.
I pray that I am a woman of God who puts her hope in the Lord not in emotions or feelings. That I will choose to stand on God’s word, His truth, and that I can pull you up there with me in times of doubt and confusion. Like Adam and Eve, I will be your helpmeet. Like Eve being made from Adam’s rib, I will stand by your side. I pray that I will help nurture our children in the way of God. Loving them unconditionally and being gentle like the Father. I will be a mother that prays over our family. That will trust God with our children. The babies He gives us, I will give back to Him, grateful knowing He has chosen us to parent and love them.
Aron, the day I met you is the day God gave me freedom from something that had been weighing me down for years. I chose to learn from it, to give God glory in the midst of it, but the day I met you is the day God took my burden away. You are my gift, you are my freedom, you are the one God has sent for me to love and grow with. God is so faithful. If I am to speak anything today, it’s that God is faithful. When you think He has abandoned us, remember what He has brought us through. Remember what He has done for those around us and even in the Bible. I stake my life on the fact that we serve an extremely good and faithful God.
Aron, you are the kindest, gentlest, most loving man I have ever met. Not just to me but to everyone around you. Your heart is so kind. One thing I noticed when we were dating was how gentle you are, which God spoke to my heart that you will be a gentle father to our children just how He is with us. I didn’t know that I needed that in a spouse but God knew and it comforts my heart like no other. You are a strong leader and getting stronger. You are trustworthy, a hard worker, and intelligent. I know you won’t steer this family in the wrong direction. Your heart wants the best for us and I know you want God to lead you and therefore He will.
I choose to learn form you when we don’t agree on things. I choose to listen when you speak. I choose to let you lead. I choose to listen to the Lord when I am to keep my mouth shut…Lord willing. These things are impossible apart from God so therefore I choose to put Him as the center of my life and together I pray that we choose to put Him as the center of our marriage. The center of our finances. The center of every choice and the center of raising our children. I choose you. Today I am proud to become your wife. You are everything my mom has prayed for and everything I didn’t know my heart desired. I have never known a love like this. You have won my heart and I proudly give it to you.
I pray that God is glorified in our marriage. It’s all about Him and for Him. I pray that we are a light shining brightly together and that we are a reflection of Christ’s love. We love because Jesus first loved us. I love you more than my words could ever express.
