Byron, Two years ago we decided to take a risk on love – and here we are, on this holy altar, on our wedding day.
I’ve decided to marry you, because with you- life is beautiful. Because you are my best friend, my most beloved companion, my favorite dreamer when contemplating the future, and my most comforting safe place. You are my ally in adventure and curiosity, and the one who makes my soul gaze in wonder of the man that you are.
12 years ago I gave my greatest Yes to our Jesus. Yes to loving Him, serving Him, learning Him and His heart, following His leading, submitting to His will for my life – to carrying His Name as my identity for the rest of my days.
Today, in the presence of our closest family and friends, and most importantly, God — I give you my emphatic next greatest “Yes!” Yes to loving you, serving you, learning you and your heart, following your leading, submitting to you in love, and the church is a humble servant of Christ. And yes to carrying your name as my identity for all my days.
I promise to learn to love the journey of this new legacy we are building, not just to destination.
I promise to encourage you, believe in you, to champion your dreams.
I promise that I will always challenge you to be the man God created you to be. There’s greatness in you, and I promise to draw it out, to build you up, to pray for you, and always point you to Jesus to best that I can, and to always seek the Lord’s will for our lives.
I promise to communicate with you, even if I am frustrated, annoyed or scared. Today, I tear down to walls of my heart that you have so courageously and faithfully scaled, and I freely give you my heart.
I promise to forgive freely, just as I have so freely been forgiven. I promise to always extend grace, and to fight for your heart with the same persistence Jesus has fought for mine.
Every good and perfect gift comes down from above, and you are my favorite good and perfect gift.
In every season, I will choose love and joy — and I will praise the Lord with you, and find rest under the shadow of His wings — with a love so strong, only to be departed by death.
I love you, Byron David King, and I promise I always will.
I never could have imagined this, even if I tried. So much beauty and anticipation in one event, and now we have our turn to look each other in the eyes and make this once in a life time covenant with God, in front of all our family and friends.
Oh, how we have been with each other through the valleys of life, but I can tell everyone here that we’ve also walked on mountain tops. I have tangibly seen our love grow and be strengthened over time. The dynamic duo of us will be tested. We will encounter hardships, we will occasionally fight from time to time. Go figure, we are humans, in a broken world that needs Jesus, just like everyone else.
Over time you’ll get to see me the most out of any other person on the planet. I want you to know what you are signing up for…
I chew like 10,000 horses. I have a tendency to be melodramatic, even when I shouldn’t be. Locking doors is only a suggestion.
But you still find it within yourself to love me despite of all my flaws and insecurities. Not many people can hold that title.
So I promise to love you fiercely. May our passion not be flippy floppy. May our marriage be defined as unconditional. A place where we keep no record of wrongs, and see the best of each other, every single time. Never forget these moments that will last a lifetime!
I promise to grow in my love for you. I promise to be your number 1 fan. I promise to make you the happiest woman on the entire planet, most of the time. I promise to share, even when it’s inconvenient.
I promise to say, “You’ve Won!”, each time we leave Trader Joe’s. I promise to give you a hard time every time we are in a craft store longer that 20 minutes. I promise to lock doors to all things I enter or exit, every time. I promise to put on subtitles when watching TV with you. I promise to learn how to cook better, so nothing turns into charcoal.
I have captured your heart, Kasey, and I am never letting go, as long as we both shall live. There ain’t nothin muffin that we can’t conquer together!
