What a truly special story we have. A story that I am 100% sure, was orchestrated by the Lord Himself. But how glad I am that he close us to live this amazing life together. It is surreal that the beautiful girl standing in front of me today, is that little dark skinned cutie that used to come visit grandma each summer. But from the moment we reconnected, I knew you were special. And every day since then, and every day going forward I promise to make you feel just that.
Courtney, your love and devotion to the Lord is inspirational. I love that you continually push me to grow deeper in my relationship with the Lord.
Your commitment to me and unwavering trust in the path that I take and the decisions I made leave me with no doubt that you will support me in all the big dreams that I have.
I love the passion and excitement you have for life and your career. I love that you don’t skim over the details and that you don’t forget to thank the lord for the little things in life, like the sunshine that makes your day.
I love your adventurous spirit. It takes a selfless person to give up a tremendous job, move away from their family and beautiful home to live in Chilton, Wisconsin with a goat farmer. But you accepted it with not only no complaints, but excitement and anticipation.
I vow to give you time, my undivided attention, to leave work at work and to set all distractions aside and just be with you.
I vow to listen, I mean really listen to you when you just want to talk about your day.
I promise to shut off lights, fan and air conditioning and to not overuse electricity.
I vow to dream big but allow the Lord to pave our path and follow where he leads us.
And most importantly, I promise to put the Lord first and you second’ but to love you unconditionally, lead you boldly and adore you with all my heart. It is my honor to live the rest of this beautiful life with you.
I feel like I have loved you forever, like it’s always been you. But I actually can’t believe it’s you.
As I stand here vowing to love you forever, I can’t help but think of how amazing it is that you and I ended up together. The first day I met you was over 20 years ago. And while I don’t remember that day, I do remember that hot July afternoon, one month short of 4 years ago, when we reconnected for the first time in 9 years. From our first date, I knew instantly that you were something special. Your heart for the Lord and for people and your positive energy and spirit are what drew me to you and made me fall in love with you.
While today is the most amazing day of my life, getting to marry you, I am also so torn leaving everything that I have ever known and people and family that I love so much.
But today I vow to you that I will never look back. I vow to love you forever and follow you wherever the Lord leads us.
I vow to always encourage you and to put you first. To take a step back and let you put me in my place when I need it.
I promise to apologize more often than I have in the past and to try really hard to become a better cook.
I promise to be understanding when the goat kids need more attention than I do on some days and to not get too mad when you occasionally bring your barn clothes into the house.
I promise to remind you that the little things in life, get you to the big things, but only if you remind me to see the bigger pictures sometimes too.
And most importantly, I vow to always love Jesus first and you second and to always point you towards him. It is my biggest privilege to be on this journey with you.

Jake is from New York and I am from Pennsylvania. We met when we were two years old, fell in love when we were 18, got married at 22 and followed God’s calling on our lives to pick up and move to Wisconsin 6 weeks ago. This huge step of faith, moving away from home right at the beginning of our marriage is, what I believe, the best thing for our new marriage. We absolutely love living and doing life together here in Wisconsin!
