I have known you for almost seven years, and I have been in love with you for almost as long. Over the years, I have come to learn what love truly means, love is not just feelings of affection. Love is an action. It is treating someone with love. No matter what my emotions are, whether I am angry or annoyed, or whether I am happy, I promise to always treat you with love. The greatest thing we can do as a couple is to seek Christ together. Therefore, I promise that in our married life I will do my best to guide you and lead you in scripture and in your walk with Christ. Finally, I promise to always be faithful to you. No matter what hardships we face or what property God brings us, I promise that we will go through it together. I promise that I will be yours for the rest of our lives. I love you and I always will, I can’t wait to see what adventure God has in store for us next.
I wasn’t sure that we would make it to this day, but you assured me we would. I wasn’t sure our love could survive the distance that we faced, but you persisted. You have always been strong, kind, and patient. This is the reason I stand across from you today, because I can be sure of one thing; I want to spend the rest of my life with you. From the first day that I met you I knew that you would be my friend for life. Little did I know that the weird kid that sat in 1st period math freshman year would marry me today. Ever since I met you I have prayed for our relationship. As I was packing for college I found an old journal. In 2013 I wrote a prayer about you, to bless our relationship and let God’s will be done in our lives, for Him to be exalted more than ourselves, to be the center of everything. Thank you for being the spiritual leader in our relationship and for pushing me to grow closer to God. So now I would like to vow to you. I vow to put God before you. I vow to always forgive and love you, even if some days it may be hard. I vow to learn to cook and to not get too upset if you do not like what I make. I vow to love you, encourage you, trust you, and respect you. I vow to share tears and even more laughter with you for years to come. I vow to turn on the air-conditioning when you’re hot, even if I am freezing. Our household will be full of love and encouragement, and plenty of corny puns and movie references. So Joseph, I love you to the moon and back and I am so happy that I get to walk this adventure with you as your wife.
