I promise to encourage you to err on the side of “yes” when it comes to obeying Christ rather than allowing any fears stop you. I vow to search for His truth with you when the skies are clear with happiness or hazy with despair. I promise to be your advocate and your biggest fan. I promise to support your dreams and pursue your passions – whether it’s Dodger baseball, superhero movies, or youth ministry.
We often say that our biggest dream for our marriage is that we would use it to live boldly and uncommonly for the sake of the Gospel. I promise to play my part in that mission and I trust that you will hold me accountable in that.

One of my first memories of you is seeing you a couple rows behind me in our first class together at CBU Freshman year. You were wearing a cutoff jean jacket and your hair up in a bun, and when I found out we were paired as project partners, I pretty much wanted to pass out. From day one I knew there was something different about you, which you know, because I liked you before you even knew my name. Now that we’re here, I am honored to try to be the husband you deserve. I don’t know if I can be, but I will spend the rest of our lives trying to be. I promise to love you, respect you, encouraging you, and protect you. I promise to pursue God’s will before my own, and to be the spiritual leader that God calls me to be. I promise to forgive first, apologize first, and leap out in faith first. I promise to wake up at the crack of dawn on Saturdays to go on Target runs with you even though I don’t like to leave the house until noon. I promise not to make you sit through too many superhero movies because I know you get bored, and I promise to take you on adventures and date nights and try new things with you, because I know that makes you feel loved.
I promise to lay down my life for you as Christ did for the Church. I promise to read God’s word and spend time in prayer and to pursue Christ daily, so that God will continue to change my heart to be the man that you need. I love you so much, and I cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives growing to love you more.
