From this moment, I take you as my best friend for life. I promise to love you without condition, to honor you each and every day. To laugh with you when you’re happy, to support you when you’re sad. I will share my fries with you when you’ve finished all yours and are still hungry. I will kill the cockroaches. I will try my best to not get annoyed with you when you talk and ask questions during a movie. I will forever be your big spoon. I will share in your dreams and support you as you strive to achieve your goals. I will listen to you with compassion and understanding, and speak to you with encouragement. I promise to lead you as Christ leads me. To show you the same type of love as Christ has shown us, until death do us part.
What a journey this has been. If you would’ve told me years ago that we would be here….I’d believe you dangit! Okay but all jokes aside, thank you for loving me. I always knew whoever God gave me would have to be someone really special who could put up with me and I was right. Just knowing you makes me want to be better. I never knew this kind of love existed until I was loved by you. There are so many days in my quiet times that I am brought to tears, overwhelmed by the love you pour out on me. I am so incredibly blessed. You are my dream come true, my answered prayer, and my absolute Prince Charming. So today on this day we have dreamed of for years, this “pinch me I’m dreaming” kind of day here are my vows.
I vow to honor Christ in the way I love you and serve you as my husband. I vow to submit to you, pray for you, and respect you for the rest of my life. I vow to take care of you when you’re sick, and to stand by you no matter what life brings our way. I vow to choose you each day and to never stop pursuing you and wanting to know your heart better. I vow to be your lover, your companion, your shoulder, but most of all your best friend. I vow to create a home that is centered around Christ and raise our kids along side you, to pursue a relationship with their savior. I vow to never give up. In a world where marriage is so easily disposed of, I vow that I will never stop fighting for you and honoring this covenant we are making today. I vow to put you before all human things, possessions, and desires keeping my eyes first on Jesus but then on you as my husband and the man he placed as the spiritual authority in my life. I vow to make you better. To always push you to grow and change for the better, and to stretch yourself, never settling for where we are but continually striving for more. I vow to love you, cherish you, have your back, and make you laugh. Above all, I will love you with my whole heart for my whole life. I know we will change and grow over the years, but that fact will remain. So today, I look back on that day in the sound booth when I was 14…”I would marry you just so I can have a crazy cool last name” well today I finally get to make good on that promise! This journey we’ve been on all lead up to this day, this moment where we become one in front of all of those we love who have prayed for, loved, and supported us throughout our years together and apart. You’re my best friend and I can’t wait to spend a lifetime of laughter with you, starting today.
3 Sentence Love Story
I fell in love with him at fourteen but we pushed our own way instead of waiting on the Lord. After a lot of growing and changing for the better, God brought us together 2 years later. It was only appropriate that 3 years after that, we were married in the same church we met in, grew up in, where we shared our first kiss, and even where he popped the question!
